The 2021 Texas Blizzard
Spring is coming to give us a rebirth.
A Texas blizzard: an oxymoron to say the least. To me, this can be taken as a sign. Hard freeze and 8-10 inches of snow-covered Dallas. A thick, white, beautiful covering over a lifeless, dead, colorless landscape; another oxymoron so to speak. Everything stopped, the city was literally paralyzed. In shock, people stayed indoors and tried to survive. All the while the power structures failed, grocery shelves emptied, and water pipes froze. There was little to do or places to go for warmth.
In retrospect, we can take this message as another stop of time to reflect and ponder. 2020 brought us COVID and a year bursting at the seams with pent-up stress of all the hatred and segregation in our country and the World. Many took the time to reflect, learn and change. 2021 was celebrated as a new beginning, a fresh start, and a new attitude. Then, the winter to remember…
This blizzard was yet another gift given to us to stop and listen and reflect. The old was covered with this new, white powdery snow. Even though there was pain in the beauty and more lessons on preparedness, in true Texas fashion, the temperature reached nearly 80-degrees the following week to remind us… spring is on its way.
Soon, there will be new life, new growth, new energy as we warm. Hold on, look forward and learn to love what we have, and prepare for your future. Learn from the hardships and use those lessons as tools. Share your gift of learning with others and assist someone in need. This is our time to give the gift of ourselves.
Be Well,
